Greetings in the Name of our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ.
I write this letter with great anticipation in seeing what the LORD will do this New Year. For the last 7 years I have served as Pastor of the Historic Grants Creek Baptist Church in Rising Sun, Indiana, but on Saturday evening the 10th of January as I was finishing preparing for Sunday School in Acts 16:6-12 the LORD spoke to my heart and called me to a new field of service…Ecuador… with a new role as a Missionary…What encouragement and joy flooded over my soul as I said, ” Here am I LORD, send me!” Without hesitation I shared the news first with my family and then with my church family. By the 26th I had my passport ordered and plane ticket purchased to fly to Quito, Ecuador for a two week survey (February 19-March 5). And a departure date towards the end of this year. Following the example in Acts 16:10 ” And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavored to go…”
It gets better…
Believing that the team ministry is Biblical, Luke 10:1, “… and he sent them two and two before his face into every city and place…” Not only do I have the LORD on my side, I have a veteran Missionary to co-labor with, and to help with the language. Bro. Michael Lea of the Mission Boulevard Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas, was overjoyed to hear the news and has already made preparation and secured an invite into the country for my visa.
And better…I already have churches promising to support the work!
I’ve already been asked, How are you going to raise enough support in less than a year? Well, as a Pastor, brethren are already promising to support the work because of the testimony I have and body of doctrine we believe here at the Grants Creek Baptist Church. And I would like to think that I have been faithfully raising support for more than 1 year… more like 14 years, which of the last 7 have been in the ministry. We have made it a practice here at Grants Creek, if a man is called to the field, has a testimony and comes from a sound Church, we take him on for support being recommended of the brethren. We believe this is not only biblical, but economical and practical for the Missionary to be a good steward with his time and treasure, getting him to the field in the shortest amount of time possible to begin the work the LORD has called him to. Pastor I firmly believe this is what the LORD will do for me and ask for your fervent prayers and financial support also.
With this being said…
There will not be enough time for me to visit every church after I return in March until I leave towards the end of this year, but every effort will be made to visit as many as possible. So Pastor, I ask that you would prayerfully consider taking us on for support with the understanding that I might not be able to present the ministry to your Church face to face initially, but I will have a DVD presentation you can view and share with your congregation. Prayer cards, web page and monthly support letters will also be available after I return in March. If this is not the practice of your Church, I understand and LORD willing our schedules will align so I can come while on deputation to present the ministry before we leave, either way please pray for us. Pastor, I am assured the LORD has called me to this work and would be pleased to have you partner with us in seeing souls saved, disciples made and churches planted in Ecuador!
Since the day the LORD saved me on September 24, 2001 until now, “I have walked by faith and not by sight”, my motto has been to, ” Always do those things that please the Father”, and ” To present my body a living sacrifice.” This transition is just simply another act of love and obedience to HIM who loved me and gave himself for me!
Thank you again for your consideration and may the LORD bless you and your Church.
